Jean A. Cappellino, 85, died Dec. 31, 2010. Born in Rochester, she was an area resident all of her life. She graduated from Nazareth College and later received her Masters Degree from Middlebury College. Jean was a teacher and became Director of Foreign Languages and The Major Achievement Program in the Rochester City School District. She gave her time, talents, energy and love unconditionally. Jean's accomplishments and awards were numerous including the Distinguished Peace Service Award she received in 1994. Jean dedicated her life to serving others, as an educator, director, mentor, or friend she uplifted all those who had been fortunate enough to be a part of her life. Jean dedicated a lot of her time to Sister Cities International, especially the Bamako/Rochester Sister Cities Program, Amnesty International, she served as a translator, and opened her home to students and teachers from all over the world during their stay in the United States.
