Norm was a true friend in every respect. He always seemed to think of others before himself, sharing his musical talent and rich sense of humor with every person who crossed his path. He was also a guy, who as a teenager, displayed a very strong faith in God. I don't recall him every uttering a bad word or speaking negatively of others. He lived his Christian values through his interaction with peers, teachers and community. He was by no means boring or shy. He loved listening to the Beatles and Rolling Stones, but was always happiest when spinning his beloved Kingston Trio on a turntable. He was always sure of his direction in life. I always respected his ambition to become a minister. He later went on to college and semenary in pursuit of a demanding career in helping others. Norm would also take his musical gifts of playing guitar and banjo into his ministry. We appeared in three MHS plays together and his ability to make me laugh, both on and off stage, represents some of the finest memories of my youth. He also wrote and performed a tune that would achieve quite a bit of airplay on WBBF. We wanted to render an updated version of "Live For Today" using some great music pros and a sentimental public relations approach to help raise funds for the USO. Sadly, the project never got off the ground. I had to take time out to deal with serious health issues. Norm's passing came as a shock to all who were touched by his kindness and many gifts. His positive light continues to shine.
